βάκχευε· μεγαλαύχει τὰς μωρίας πολλῶν γραμμάτων ἐπιστάμενος. τὸ γὰρ ληφθῆναί σε σκαιὰν ἐποίησέ σου τὴν ἄσκησιν· τιμῶν καπνούς· προσποιοῦ ἔνθεος εἶναι.

Doing the Bacchus: he boasts of knowing the foolishness of many books. For having been caught makes it become a terrible practice; ‘honoring the smoke’: this means he is possessed by the deity.

“Perform the Bakchic rites”: boast greatly that you know the foolishness of many writings. For your having been caught has made your practice disgraceful. “Honoring smoke”: pretend to be entheos, possessed by the God.
