Thinking more about this post, I figured the best way to start was with simple axiomatic statements that members could use for reflection and daily application. Other Dionysian or Anglophone Hellenic Polytheist groups might have different virtues (or no virtue at all) but this collection of principles constitute the guiding ethical philosophy for members of the Starry Bull tradition of Bacchic Orphism:

• Joy (Chara) — the affirmation of life, even amid suffering.
• Ecstasy (Ekstasis) — the willingness to step beyond the narrow self.
• Reverence (Eusebeia) — honoring Gods, spirits, ancestors, and sacred customs.
• Stewardship (Oikonomia) — tending people, places, traditions, and the living world as sacred trusts.
• Hospitality (Xenia) — welcoming the stranger, traveler, and supplicant.
• Generosity (Eleutheriotēs) — giving freely of food, drink, wisdom, and time.
• Courage (Andreia) — facing transformation without fleeing into fear.
• Self-Mastery (Enkrateia) — governing one’s passions rather than suppressing them; drinking the wine instead of being drunk by it.
• Truthfulness (Aletheia) — allowing masks to fall away and seeing what is.
• Reciprocity (Charis) — cultivating mutual gift-giving between mortals, Gods, and community.
• Compassion (Eleos) — showing compassion for suffering creatures.
• Wonder (Thauma) — preserving the capacity for awe before the mysteries.
• Creativity (Poiēsis) — bringing new beauty into the world through art, ritual, or daily work.
• Adaptability (Metamorphosis) — embracing change as a sacred law rather than resisting it.
• Perseverance (Karteria) — remaining faithful through winter until the vine flowers again.
• Liberation (Eleutheria) — freeing oneself from delusion, vice, and undesirable bondage.
• Wisdom (Sophia) — discerning the proper season, measure, and response.
• Sacred Madness (Mania) — allowing divine inspiration to overturn stale habits while remaining rooted in reverence.
