So one of the things that concerns me is that I kind of went overboard with Anthesteria. Things were already tight money-wise (my rent got raised, I’m taking a day off of work for the trip and I’ll be making a bunch of offerings as part of the process of formalizing my membership in House Sankofa) but Dionysos should be worshiped with wild abandon and this year especially I wanted to do Anthesteria in a lavish style. So I stupidly and irresponsibly spent money I didn’t have. I’m a Fool and the central tenet of morosophy is you do the work and things will turn out okay and if they don’t oh well, you’ve done the work and on to the next grand adventure! (This is also why I live alone and try to have my life as unentangled with my partners as possible — no one should suffer the consequences of the actions I have to take to do this work.) So I figured it was time to whore out my Muse again. (It’s okay, she’s that kind of girl. She likes it.)
For $15 I’ll write a poem on the topic of your choosing.
For $25 I’ll write an essay on the topic of your choosing.
For $30 I’ll write a short story on the topic of your choosing.
Also I’ll be sending the manuscript for my latest book Incantations of New Wine to my editor — the multitalented Dver — tonight once I finish Anthesteria. So I figured I’d give people the opportunity to preorder their copy now. $35 will get you a personally signed edition, shipped once we get copies back from the printer. (Which I’m guessing will be in late March or early April.)
Contact me at sannion@gmail.com for further details.
In addition to having the opportunity to be a generous patron of the arts remembered in the same illustrious company as Maecenas and the Famiglia de’ Medici you will have my eternal gratitude.
I’m assuming when you say poem, you don’t mean epic poem? ‘Cause then I would spring for the money and a gratuity. :p
How epic are we talking? Stylistically I’d be willing to give it a shot … but 40,000 lines might require a bit more ;)
Hmm. A part of me wants to know how much it would cost to commission an actual epic; but as I know I’m too poor an epyllion may have to suffice :D How long would 21.12 get me?
For you, my friend, I will work my Muse hard and rough. What’s the subject you’ve got in mind?
I’ve always been fond of Hercules; although I do not pay him cultus per se. I was thinking that the death of Cacus would be a fine subject although the precise details I would leave to your Muse.
That is a most worthy subject for an epic poem.
Excellent! The money is in your account to dispense as you wish!
Got it! The creative juices are already flowing.
I’m a bit short on cash right now — but the next time you do this, I’m gonna have you mine that Ariadne/Artemis connection. :)
The topic was just too interesting to wait. Hope you enjoy. :D
