The truth about Satanism in America (circa Y2K)

Ah, Satanists. The only group of people I hate more than pagans. And this doc does a great job of showing why.

I especially like how they framed the expert witness.

  1. I was in high school once upon a time, too!

These people make my head hurt.

  2. This is SUCH fucking bullshit. Seriously how can you even support this? Satanism is NOTHING like that, in fact one of the major rules of Satanism is to not bring any harm to children or animals, or force unwanted sexual acts.
You need to do research into the actual practices before you post shit like this.

Satanists get a bad enough rap as it is, and sensationalist, feamongering videos like this only make it worse, as pagans we should be SUPPORTING them.

These kids are either severaly disturbed, or they were paid to do this video, but whatever the case, they are NOT Satanists.

    • First off, posting a video or a link does not imply endorsement of that content. Plenty of stuff I post for the sheer WTF factor. Secondly, do you have any idea who the people behind the clip are? These guys. If you don’t understand what that means, you might want to click this. Actually, you should click that anyway as you clearly seem lacking in the concept. (This was pretty clearly a send-up of the exploitative and sensationalist news coverage of Santanists that was so prevalent in the 80s and 90s. If nothing else about the clip made that apparent to you, the fact that they staged the shoot so that the “occult expert” dude was in front of a bull-head so it absurdly looked like he had devil horns the whole time, kind of shows what they thought of his so-called expertise. Incidentally, all of that was explained in the link I included in the post.)

Also, I’m under no obligation to support anyone — Satanist, Pagan or what have you. My criteria is quite simple. Do you honor Dionysos? Yes? Then I stand in solidarity with you. No? Then you are fucking dead to me. Simple as that, darling.

I’m also not going to get involved in the identity politics of the Satanic community. If someone honors Satan (however that is expressed for them) and chooses to call themselves a Satanist, then they are one as far as I’m concerned. You may not like them. You may not want to associate with them. But you can’t really say that they aren’t entitled to that term when there aren’t exactly hard and fast rules as to what constitutes Satanism.
